Every diamond, like a human fingerprint, has certain distinguishing characteristics. The 4 Cs: Cut, Carat weight, Colour, and Clarity are the globally accepted standards for assessing the quality of a diamond. The creation of the 4Cs meant that a diamond's quality could be communicated in a universal language, and customers can know exactly what they were about to purchase. We at Abhipriya Jewellers, go beyond the 4 Cs with an additional self-imposed constraint we call "FIRE".
CUT
Cut, the precise shape and positioning of a diamond's facets determine the stone's general appearance and its beauty. Our diamonds are perfectly proportioned and cut to achieve the ideal balance of brilliance, dispersion and scintillation.
Many a times, a diamond’s size is given priority over its potential beauty. We at Abhipriya Jewellers refuse to make this compromise.
Two one-carat stones can vary widely in price when clarity, colour and cut are taken into consideration.
CARAT
Carat is specifically a measure of a diamond's weight, and by itself may not accurately reflect a diamond's size. We tend to evaluate diamond size by viewing it from the top because that is how diamonds are presented to us when set into a ring. To understand diamond size, carat weight should be considered in conjunction with two other criteria, distance in millimetres across the top of the diamond and a diamond's cut grade.
COLOUR
Diamond colour is all about what you can’t see. Diamonds are valued by how closely they approach colourlessness, the lesser colour, the higher their value.
We only accept diamonds of “D,E,F” grade(colourless), all previous evaluations being held in question until the stone has been deemed to be of our standard.
We only use diamonds graded above VVS which is near flawless.
CLARITY
A stone is said to be flawless if, under 10-power magnification, no internal flaws (clouds, feathers, pinpoints) and no external imperfections (scratches, pits, nicks) are visible. Absolutely flawless diamonds are exceedingly rare and priced accordingly.
FIRE
The 4Cs are essential, but not sufficient in order to guarantee a rare and extraordinary stone. At Abhipriya Jewellers, we go one step further with an additional self-imposed constraint: "FIRE". Every diamond is examined under a magnifying glass and a unique series of measurements are used in order to determine a diamond’s brilliance and beauty in profound ways. They include precision of cut (a diamond cutter’s high level of skill in creating a scintillating diamond), perfectly proportioned cuts and a diamond’s high polish grade, which ensures that a stone’s beauty is not compromised.
